Where to stay?
Four Seasons Safari Lodge, Tanzania
The ultimate safari getaway. The serengeti is magical enough (with dreamy sunsets and thrilling animal sightings) but this hotel takes it to a whole other very luxurious level.
Located deep in the heart of the stunning Serengeti, elevated on a series of platfoms and walkways. Watch in wonder from your private balcony as a family of elephants stop by to the hotel's watering hole for their morning drink. Embark on private, or shared, thrilling game drives with the local Masai tribes or soar high in the sky on a hot air balloon safari. Then return to the Safari lodge, where the secluded guest rooms, elegant spa and idyllic infintity pool promises a luxurious respite during your African adventures.
Singita Grumeti, Tanzania
This Serengeti bolthole is perfectly placed in a 350,000-acre private reserve created to protect the path of millions of wildebeest that pass through on their annual migration. Accommodation ranges from the nine-cottage Sasakwa Lodge, complete with private plunge pools overlooking the plains, to the Singita Explore tented camp- which allows guests to live close to nature without forfeiting any creature comforts.
As well as game drives, guests can embark on stargazing safaris, hit the dirt on mountain bikes or track animals on foot with an expert guide. When it's time to relax and recharge, the lodges and camps all serve incredible cuisine made from fresh local produce along with an impressive collection of fine wines. It's hard to beat a starlit dinner on the terrace at the hilltop Sasakwa Lodge.
